1990/2010
Curator: George Ciscle, Director, Contemporary Museum
Twelve artists from the region were invited to respond to the AIDS crisis through creative works. These works explored the grief and rage conveyed by AIDS and formed an outcry for healing and action. As curator George Ciscle wrote, "This is not an exhibition of information, rather a testament to our commitment as guardians of dignity." The multimedia exhibition premiered at Artscape '90 at the Maryland Institute College of Art, then traveled to five urban and rural sites: Arlington Arts Center (VA); University of Maryland, Eastern Shore; Goucher College; Frostburg State University (MD); Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (MI).
Artists included in the exhibition: Virginia Brown, Donald Cook, Nicholas Corrin, Ann Fessler, Jeff Gates, Mia Halton, Michael Iampieri, Chevelle Makeba Moore, Ruth Eve Pettus, Stephen John Phillips, Josef Schutzenhofer, Joyce J. Scott.
